Writer's Muse Writing Competition - £100.00 Prize Money!!!

Saturday, 12 Jan 2008

MUSE LOGO   PLEA FOR MORE SUBMISSIONS - Our stockpile of work is dwindling!!!  If you are planning to send more submissions, or know anyone who writes, please let us have more work.

  To mark the fortieth issue of Writer’s Muse magazine we have decided to celebrate by launching a writing competition. We have had anthologies and collections before but this is slightly different. If all goes according to plan we will publish the entries in a Writer’s Muse special.

There will be cash prizes for the three best entries – see below for details.

Judging the competition will be:

Calum Kerr, ex editor of Writer’s Muse, now writing lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University, and freelance writer;

Mike Somers, Contributor to, and Assistant Editor of, Writer’s Muse, and a Director of Webguild Media;

Jim Palmer, editor of Writer’s Muse, freelance writer, editor and proof-reader, and Creative Writing tutor.

To enter, please submit your entries by post or e-mail attachments (addresses below). Please make sure you clearly state that submissions are for the competition by writing, LIFE BEGINS AT FORTY! COMPETITION, on the submission and accompanying letter, or your ‘subject’ line if sending by e-mail.

Entries should be accompanied by a cheque for £5.00 (made payable to ‘Jim Palmer’). Any number of entries can be sent for this amount but please remember to mark each one as an entry. Entries must be in short story form but can be on any subject. A maximum of 3,500 words is suggested; there is no lower limit.

Prizes are:

1st prize = £50.00
2nd prize = £30.00
3rd prize = £20.00

Closing date for LIFE BEGINS AT FORTY! is Saturday 7th June, 2008.
